Big Sculptures

Big Sculptures  1 metre +

You will see from the image of Rosie Probert, our half size Thames barge which Pete built in the garden (the way you do…) that size is nothing to be concerned about when it comes to building things!

These days Pete uses mostly stainless steel because the price is compatible with mild and it avoids galvanising.  It also provides a much wider portfolio of possible permanent textures and colours than mild steel.  We use the press (again, something Pete made for a specific job and now we think – ‘however did we manage without it’) to make the shapes which are needed – whether it’s bending pipes or gently transforming sheet into a face!

Woven Steel

People can't believe, when they see Pete's woven steel vessels, that they are, in fact steel - they are so tactile and precise people tend to think they are leather - until they try to lift them!

Woven Bridge

Cecil Snail

'Cornus Cecilium' was made as a site specific sculpture for Burghley House and is now permanently in their collection.

Big Hare

This is made from folded Corten steel - steel Origami.  For smaller versions see little sculptures.
